CHRISTMAS WISH TREE FOR WINGS MELAKA AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY FESTIVE DECORATIONS AT PHILEA RESORT AND SPA, MELAKA

Melaka, Malaysia, 5th December 2015 – Philea Resort and Spa rings in Christmas with a caring initiative that will bring joy to the children and young adults of Wings Melaka.

Philea has launched the Christmas Wishing Tree on 1st December 2015 and visitors or guests to the resort will find the tree in the lobby putting up with colorful ornaments and wishes. Children from Wings Melaka were invited earlier to place their Christmas wishes on the wish cards which have been hung on the tree. Resort guests and local alike are welcomed to make a child’s wish come true and put smiles on their faces by picking a wish card from the tree. All the gifts collected will be distributed to the children and young adults on 22 December 2015.

Speaking about the initiative, Lim Beng Weh, the resort General Manager said, “As a value based organization, we at Philea believe in making a meaningful contribution towards the society. All through the year, we keep doing small and big initiatives for a larger social cause. Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and we would like to share this joy with the less fortunate.”

“Apart from taking care of our guests, it has been Philea’s culture to constantly serve the community around us. This is the second year that Philea has undertaken the Christmas Wish Tree charity program and it makes all of us very happy to see the joy on the faces of the children as they see their wishes transform into reality. We hope to continue this for many years to come,” said Tee Mei Fong, Assistant Marcom Manager.

Tee Mei Fong, Assistant Marcom Manager, invites guests and public to participate in the Christmas Wish Tree CSR project for a noble cause.

Wings Melaka is located in Tengkera, a non-profit organization providing a range of educational programs designed to help special needs children and young adults. Most of them are mentally challenged with special needs and suffering from conditions such as Down Syndrome, Autism and other learning disabilities.

This festive season, the resort continues its commitment by promoting green practices through festive decorations. This year, the resort has created environmental friendly snowman and deer to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. The snowman was built from 300 recyclable plastic bottles which collected from the guest rooms. As for the little wooden deer, they are transformed from discarded tree trunks and branches that stand beautifully in the lobby. Public is invited to view and snap some photos for memory with the wood sculptures.

“Last year, we also made up an environmental friendly Christmas tree from pull tabs which donated by schools and some other organizations. We will keep this tradition alive and continue to share our green efforts,” she added.
